Beauty Lecture
On this lecture, Glenn showed us a couple videos that he showed two weeks before, such as the video telling us how are perception of beauty is distorted, which always gets me thinking and agreeing. Well after this, we looked at a couple of famous picture from artists in the past. the first picture was about a goddess being born and her head looking the other way from the viewer. People in the past viewed this portrait as being "beautiful" because she was perfect. And according to a philosopher, beauty meant being perfect. We then looked at a portrait of a average woman, and according to Glenn, she was kind of the first celebrity sort of thing. This portrait was also considered "beautiful" because of the fact that it is actually more real than a goddess being born. This made a lot of sense as well. This lecture as usual got me to think a lot about what beauty is, it's so difficult trying to figure out something that is so obvious, but I guess one thing I do know about beauty is that it always changes over time.
