The first painting that I thought was amazing was The School of Athens, which was done by Raphael. I thought that the arch was very eye grabbing due to its size and circular structure. There is so much things that are going on on this picture, and every single person in the painting is so well drawn and have their emotions, making it so realistic. And to me personally this painting also inspires me, seeing all those students and followers of philosophers ponder and share ideas with one another, makes me want to succeed one day with all the effort I put into my own studies. Having the the sky show in the background in the center portion of the portrait is also amazing, it makes to look so heavenly and peaceful. In conclusion the portrait looks very balanced, creative, and beautiful.
Another portrait that I thought was well done was That Gentleman, which was done by Andrew Wyeth. This would have to be my favorite painting so far in the book. This painting just looks casual to me, nothing really going on except the man's starring off in the corner of the dark room, which really makes me take a deep breath and relax. The details that were shown in this picture makes it amazing as well, such as the worn out shoes, the rusted chair, and the dark and plain wall, it sets the mood just right and makes you wonder what the old man is thinking about.
